The Youth Rugby Joint Training session that was due to take place tonight (Wed 17th) from 6:00pm-7:30pm at ORFC has been cancelled.
Also, Tonight's Please pass the word. BT National League Division 3 Pickaquoy - Saturday 13th January 2018 ORKNEY 3, ARDROSSAN 17 Orkney started off the match well putting the visitors Ardrossan Accies RFC under huge amount of pressure, the home side were entrenched in the oppositions 22 for nearly 30 minutes of the 1st half apart from one foray into the Orkney 22 where they were awarded a penalty which they duly converted into 3 points. Orkney then got back into the opposition’s 22 where they were awarded another penalty which was converted by Danny Bain to make it 3 apiece. Hi folks
We are getting quite a bit of interest in Saturday’s game which we have said will be West v The Rest in Dounby with a kick off at 1330. Ian Rushbrook will referee. Please let me know if you and any others you know intend playing in this Internal game next Saturday or for the West you can also contact Steven Wylie. If folk want to play but may have difficulty getting transport to Dounby, contact me on one of the numbers below and I will help them organise a lift Finally please remember Paul Livingstone is going to be speaking about styles of play and tactics in ORFC Clubhouse tomorrow night Monday 15 January at 8pm and it is an open session to which all Club members are invited. I will be going along after the fitness session for players in Picky at 7pm which Paul is also taking. I hope to see some of you tomorrow night and hope you can all help me by circulating the information above to as many people as you can. Call me if you have any comments or questions. Thanks in anticipation of your help/assistance Ian Carse Tel: 878339 Mob: 07415 680706 At Tuesday’s ORFC Committee meeting the Committee expressed their support for any initiatives/ideas that may come forward to keep up the number of adults playing rugby and they want to support all of our teams, including youth and ladies teams, to get as many fixtures as we can.
They also expressed their desire to receive as many ideas from Club members about how to increase the numbers of people playing rugby and participating in the work of ORFC. I have accepted the challenge to work with all of you and anyone else who is interested in discussing what would move ORFC forward in a playing sense, and I will be coming back to you over the couple of months seeking your views, ideas and comments. However, don’t hold back until you hear from me, or we meet, before giving me your ideas/comments and feel free to send me your comments and/or ideas now as I have started a catalogue of comments to produce feedback for the Committee and produce a set of recommendations for ORFC to consider acting on. Ian Carse Tel: 878339 Mob: 07415 680706 Paul Livingstone is ordering new bobble hats with the ORFC logo on them priced at £8.50p each and he tells me that currently that he has orders for 52 hats. Paul needs to finalise the order this coming week so if you want one for yourself or anyone else you would give a present to contact Paul in the next few days to place your order. Naturally Paul will be at Saturday’s game so you could speak to him AFTER the game or you could send him an email giving him your order. There will be an order sheet at the bar in the clubhouse where you can pay for your hats - the final order will be made once everybody has paid. Hi folks - A’ the best to you for 2018 Below I am just sketching out a few thoughts and dates for you to be aware of / participate in or give me your thoughts on during the next few weeks: Saturday 13 January Orkney v Ardrossan kicks ofd at 2pm on the main pitch at Pickie. I hope to see you there and/or in the Clubhouse afterwards. I will be behind the bar before and after the game. The U18s are also playing across the Firth on Saturday with a 13:30 K.O v Muntly in Thurso. The first XV’s other fixtures in January are: 20 January – away to St Boswells 27 January – home to Glasgow Accies Monday 15 January 7pm Paul Livingstone is running a fitness session between 7 and 7.45pm in the Pickie main hall for any interested players After the fitness session Paul will be running a blackboard analysis and discussion session of the Orkney v Ardrossan game with players and anyone who is interested in listening is welcome to come along. I will be at both sessions – watching the first and listening to the second – Paul has said to me that he would welcome all of the Club’s players and coaches coming along to join in both or either. Saturday 20 January I would like to organise an internal game on this date as the first XV are away to St Boswells and we could have an internal game in either Kirkwall or Dounby. My preference would be to have a game in Dounby with a kick off at 1330 as we haven’t played there for a while but I would be happy just to get another game organised. Let me know if you are interested and circulate this to your rugby pals to try and get them along for a game. Please let me know if you think people will come out for a game I would need a referee for such a game so refs please let me know if you could manage this fixture See you Saturday if not before Ian Carse Tel: 878339 Mob: 07415 680706 |
